Diet for pancreatic pancreatitis: what not to eat and what you can

The pancreas is an organ of the gastrointestinal tract that is involved in the secretion of endocrine (insulin) and exocrine (enzymes). Disruption of the diet and quality of nutrition causes irreversible damage to the functions of the pancreas, which significantly affects the quality of its work. That's why you need to know what you can't eat with pancreatitis to avoid inflammation of the organ.

What is pancreatitis and how dangerous it is

Chronic pancreatitis with impaired enzyme function of the gland is a chronic, progressive disease that manifests itself with abdominal pain, digestion and absorption of nutrients.

Causes of the disease:

  • Eating Disorder;
  • Eating fatty foods as well as foods that should not be eaten with pancreatitis;
  • alcohol abuse;
  • Eating lots of sugar and flour products.

And also other diseases of the gastrointestinal tract - peptic ulcer, gastritis, gastroduodenitis, cholecystitis, cholelithiasis.

Constant disruption of the diet, as well as the use of heavy food for the stomach, leads to impaired secretion of enzymes from the pancreas. Inflammation occurs in the glandular tissue, followed by hardening of the ducts. Over time, the body cannot produce enough enzymes to digest food. All this affects the quality of digestion - undigested fibers appear in the stool, bloating develops in the intestines with fermentation processes, the absorption of necessary substances and vitamins is impaired.

Signs of exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis

Symptoms of chronic pancreatitis:

  • Shingles in the abdomen;
  • Nausea and vomiting;
  • Weight loss;
  • Stool disorder in the form of diarrhea or constipation.

In addition, pancreatitis may have such manifestations - general weakness, hiccups, bloating, dry skin, symptoms of vitamin deficiency.

In the period of exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis, complete starvation is prescribed for 2-3 days until the symptoms subside. You cannot eat food, even diet food, during this period. The patient has the right to drink if there are symptoms of thirst. The treatment is supplemented by bed rest and complete rest. Cold on the abdomen.

A few days after the symptoms of exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis disappear, the food is administered according to a specially developed diet. In medical practice, this is table number 5.
